Live Brief; COP26

Based on the brief we started to think about what specific issue under climate change we wanted to focus on. A topic that I was drawn to is the 'changing landscapes/cityscapes'. The world as we see it has changed drastically from what it was 100 years ago. In fact, with the rapid growth the world around us is facing, the places we live in change every day. If you visited the place where you were born after 5 years, chances are things might change a lot.

As a relatively young, currently developing nation, India has seen a lot of this.

The lake that I live next to used to look like this. A 'sea-plane channel' was built into it, and warplanes used to land nearby. Now, all it is known is the level of pollution that has helped give it the title of 'the lake that caught fire'.

My idea was to work on old photographs of areas that we grew up in and compare and contrast them with what the world sees now, using materials like plastic and metal, etc. The idea wasn't just to showcase the negative. India did have a lot of development to do, however, while some things have changed for the good, like this lake - we also have a lot of things that are not so good.

These are some mockups of the kind of work I wanted to try doing.
