Landscapes & Portraits
Landscapes
these are simple flat landscapes, limited in colors, some are monotone or duotone. i wanted to challenge myself by working on backgrounds using silhouettes and figures using color and brightness to show distance, without using other detail.

red, blue and white
traditional japanese style buildings
rabbit on the moon as reference to a popular japanese myth
created for a challenge by printshop, designhill
monotone
first experiment with this art style
monotone
inspired by taylor swift's 'cardigan' MV
study of reflections in still water
monotone
study of light and light refractions over materials like snow
sketch for an ongoing art piece, i prefer to make light and detailed sketches
ongoing coloring process
i add in primary shadows first, and i usually try to do luminous highlights at the end
dragons are my favourite mythical creatures, and i was inspired by a fantasy book that i was reading, to create this painting. as shown, i started out with an idea in my mind, and i sketched that out digitally. my sketches are generally detailed as i do not often work on clean line art. i wanted to show a dragon in its natural habitat, relaxing in the deep forest, with light illuminating the majestic creature. this is not the finished piece as i am still working on it.
i generally don't work with lineart for bigger pieces like this
i start with colorblocking and then working with various textures to paint in the details, shadows and highlights
Portraits
a study in different types of animal eyes
these portraits, similar to the landscapes have a hint of fantasy, akin to magical realism. i prefer to use bright highlights, using light and glow. these portraits are semi realistic, although i experiment with styles often.
inspired by a set by @jovanarikalo of @vanjajagnic
experimented with 'webtoon'-esque art style
experimented with cartoon, semi realistic art style for a commission
digital watercolor paintings
i created digital watercolor paintings of famous locations from films and tv-shows that i liked, for a course on fantasy films and literature. i really love how watercolor looks and i wanted to emulate that effect on photoshop.
